Analysis and interpretation of Crickets

Inside the short account Crickets by simply Robert Olen Butler, we are introduced to the key character in the short tale, Ted. Allen is not his real name, but a nickname that was given to him by his coworkers in the refinery where he works. He does not specifically like his nickname, yet he will not hate that either. His real term is Thieu just like the ex - president of the Republic of Vietnam. He wasn't named after the leader though; his mother named him after his deceased uncle.

Thieu were raised in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam, yet later fled to the U. S. He witnessed the fall of Saigon in 1975 – and that was when he chosen to fight against the North. The north was communistic, and Thieu was throwing dirt at the reservoirs driving throughout the streets of Saigon. As a result of situation in Vietnam, Thieu and his better half fled to the U. S i9000. in hope of an improved life. That they ended up in Louisiana exactly like many other asylum seekers from Vietnam. He performs at the refinery and has been practicing there for more than a decade. He is considered the finest chemical engineer of the refinery, even though he doesn't usually feel that his coworkers give him the right or appropriate quantity of acknowledgement, which he (in his own opinion) knows that he deserves. He likes his job on the refinery irrespective of his co workers giving him a American nickname in support of using that. Thieu believes that it's most likely because they will don't like the fact that he could be from Vietnam where American troops have just been fighting in a war against his fellow-countrymen. Thieu doesn't believe in the values of the Northern regime, which is also his reason for fleeing to the U. S.

Thieu's wife features, while surviving in America, presented birth with their first and only son. The name of his child is perhaps one of the most non-Vietnamese brand that they could find, Bill.
